I have been saving my $$$ to get myself a new AR but have been offered a used one for a very decent price. Tha damn thing has around 100 rounds through it. The thing is that the barrel is not threaded. Does anyone know if there would be a problem with the law if I had the barrel threaded?  Thanks in Advance

No, there is not a problem with this in TX.  Many of the guys here (me included) ran to the smith to have this done right after the ban expired.

If you live anywhere around the Houston area you may want to check out Ed Vandenberg (Vandenburg Custom) in Pasedena.   He does very good work on ARs at reasonable prices and quick turn around.

As an alternative you could also send it off to somewhere like ADCO.

NFA_Investments can do it for you. He is the one that does it for most of the Houston guys. Check in the Hometown forums.

He is in the Woodlands area.
