I talked to my shoulder, and it said it'd prefer the .308  My pocket was nodding to that too
I love the DPMS Panther 24" serie, but noone seem to have it on stock and backorders go up to 10 weeks.
I don't know if I can wait that much

In that case , go to the industry section and look up  American Spirit Arms . After the 1st of the year I want to start an  AR10. Be sure to let us know how you did.

I only saw ASA AR-10s online, never touched/shot one. OTOH I did shoot a DPMS Panther 24" and accuracy was awesome (so was the quality of the rifle).
Let me see what google says about ASA AR-10s ...

Better get a big blanket to pull over your head and a safe closet to hide in,

The wait for a DPMS 24" 308LR is worth it. I finally got mine. Since your going to have to wait get a few extra things done. I had my barrel fluted, teflon coated  and cryo'ed and a railed gas block put on and they have a decent choice of aftermarket drop in trigger jobs. Email DPMS and they do all that for you very reasonable. During the wait you can pick out / save for a scope. Extremely accurate. Heavy though. I'm thinking about ordering one of their 308 AP4.
300 rounds and no malfunctions Yippee. 500 yrds grp of 1 3/4" The gun is way more accurate than me.

mototard1, I placed an order for a DPMS Panther 24" about more than a month ago ETA Jan/Feb 2006.
I just wanted something sooner to fill the gap
IMO the quality/price ratio of the DPMS Panther line is hardly beateable, with competitors asking about double for less quality rifles. If they only could crank more of them
BTW, I saw BushMaster discontinued the .308 serie becasue of lack of demand.
