Does anyone know the best way to remove camo spray paint from a bolt rifle? It has been spray with a KRYLON to dull it down. Now it has to be removed w/o damaging the finish. Any suggestions?

Try some gun scrubber, that stuff will take black top off the driveway.

Carb cleaner from Wally world is about a buck a can.  It tends to do a good job getting it of without harming bluing.  The nice thing is that its dirt cheap, and a couple cans should get rid of most of the krylon.

carb cleaner or hell break cleaner with no chlorine.  I think they are both as freaking harsh so whatever's cheaper.  also you need a nylon brush,   you can buy Carb cleaner in a 1 gallon can at parts store so you could put it in a tub and put the part in it to really get it good

Wallyworld, gallon of cheap lacquer thinner.  Takes Krylon right off.

Thanks for the info. I am worried about destroying the bluing underneath. Will Carb Cleaner take the bluing? What about the synthetic stock. It's a Rem 700PSS with synthetic. Thanks!

You shouldn't have a problem with either.  It may soften the stock, but you can check that by spraying a small area or dabbing it on.  Keep it wet for 5 minutes and see what it does.

I seriously doubt you will have a problem, but not all stocks are created equal....

The factory PSS stock has a coating similar to KG Guncoat (I may be wrong but I think I remember hearing HS Precision uses KG on some of its stocks). The 700 I rebuilt last winter had a very thick camo paint job on it. I used Acetone and a green scotch brite pad to remove the Krylon and it didnt hurt the stock. It did remove some of the matte black finish on the stock but since I was going to refinish it anyway I wasnt too concerned.

Since you are concerned with the under lying finish you might also try fingernail polish remover & a soft cotton cloth.

I've used Laquer thinner to take paint off an Eotech.  It didn't damage the plastic or metal.
