I'm putting together a new M4gery after selling my last one to my Dad. This is mostly a "parts gun"--I'm trying to use up various odds and ends that I have lying around. One of those "odds and ends" is an upper receiver with M4 cuts. If I'm going to use this, I need a barrel with the M4 extension. I've been watching the EE, but I'd also like to know where I can purchase a barrel with the following specs: --14.5" with perm attached FH (to make non-NFA length) --chrome lined --M4 profile --M4 extension The closest I've found, thus far, is from CMMG. I'm not sure if "MOD4" connotes an M4 extension. Anybody know? I'm linking a pic below--pricey ($300) barrel, no? Any other places to look? All input appreciated.

I've actually been seriously considering that. Getting the barrel I want with the M4 extension is a bit of a PITA, hence my post. It certainly isn't the case that I need the ramps....they just happen to be on the upper that I have here. Maybe the EE holds the answer.... |

What twist rate are you looking for? Talon Arms has Sabre Defence, 14.5" perm extended A2 FS (OAL 16"), 1/9 twist, Chrome-lined, M4 profile, Mil-B-1159F Vandium Alloy Mil-Spec barrel, Delta ring, spring and cap included (gas tube NOT included) for $255. You could also consider if you could find a good deal, if it's not too pricey, LMT M4 14.5" 1/7 twist barrels and have ADCO perm install a long FS. Bravo Company will be making Mil-Spec barrels and uppers next year for sure if you're not in a hurry. Good luck on your build. |

The sabre defense barrel (SDI) doesn't have M4 ramps. Bought one a few weeks ago. It is one nice barrel, the extended A2 hider makes it look like an military M4....good looking IMHO. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c133/CQB233/ar15029.jpg |
On his stripped barrel page the 14.5 MOD4 Stripped Barrel does indicate a M4 extention. But get in touch with him and make double sure but I think you it may be what your looking for. |

So we are all straight, The M-4 is a Colt proprietary product, including the feed ramps. Having said that, the options are to buy a Colt M-4 barrel to match the Colt M-4 upper, or if the M-4 upper is in hand and you want to go with a Non-Colt barrel (read take a chance at a chamber which is too tight in the cross wall dimensions), then have the M-4 type ramps added to the existing barrel’s extension. |
