Ok, I got the old A2 flashhider off.  It was tight and required some elbow grease, but it eventially screwed off.  Now I put a Phantom in its place.  It seems to me that theres a bit of space between the barrel and the washer.  I think the A2 had no space at all.  I put the Phantom on pretty tight and any more would require some serious elbow grease.  Should I bother?  Will it make any difference?  Is it ok to have a bit of space there?

Did you use a new washer?

Negative.  The person I bought it from said I could use the old washer.

That may be where your extra space is coming from. If it is a crush washer, it should be replaced each time that the flash suppressor is removed and reinstalled.

There should be no space between your fh and barrel.  Use a new crush washer to see if it solves the problem.

At the local gun store.  They stock a lot of spare parts and junk like that (which is nice).
