Do you really need the Front Sight Block from Brownells #080-000-252 to knock the tapper pins out of the front sight without bending them??

No. I use a punch and a hammer after securing the barrel in a vise.

I just use a punch and a hammer on a work bench.  Comes right out.
If it's really tight, use a socket head underneath the pin.

No...but I did order the regular large hockey puck style bench block from them...it comes in very handy for about 100 different jobs.  It's got a big channel running down the center line that a barrel rests perfectly in.

At some point, if you get one, you'll wonder how you managed without it.

It's  498-100-100, and it's only $13.25.
