I was considering a flat gas block with the 1913 rail in order to mount a flip sight. I understand this makes future handguard projects easier, but what will this prevent me from doing as well? Can I mount a BUIS on the block? It appears to be a bit below the level of the flattop on the upper. I imagine this will cause the BUISs to be misaligned. Is this true? What are my sight options? |

I really like the YHM on my gas blocks. It locks into place and is very sturdy (as opposed to Chicom stuff). Armalite sells stainless gas blocks if you are adding to a stainless barrel. Looks rather neat, and Armalite also sells a bayo adapter for gas blocks. What kind of barrel are you thinking of doing this to? |

It's going to be an M4-type. I wanted a railed gas block so I could mount whatever I wanted for a BUIS, as well as possibly leaving more latitude for later handguard projects (S.I.R.S., etc.). I was going to leave the original handguards on for now. Would this cause a problem? look stupid? I'm doing this with a Del-Ton kit, if that helps. They have a lot of gas block options. Two-rail, four-rail, no-rail... |
Nope. Two of my Armalites came that way from the factory. Railed gas block with OD handgaurds. Looks cool and it's nice to be able to add a flip sight for backup. |

Ok, part two of my question, which sights would fit the gas block the best? I assume they're made FOR a gas block design as opposed to being made to just sit on top of a railed handguard? Should I get two of the same manufacturer? Any suggestions? Pics would be great, if anyone has them. Thanks again! |

I have an Armalite gas block with GGG flip up. The sight is awsome. Well made and excellent sight picture. Be forwarned; This is heavy stuff. Very heavy. JP offer an alluminum gas block/rail. Set screws though. Best seems to be a quad mounted sight on a light quad. The Armalite 'clamps' on. It is a good system. It can always get a 'tac' after testing. That is the best way to go if weight is not a factor. A proper tac is not indellable and works. |
