Right now, I am a virgin builder.  I guess I would qualify as one of those weekend guys, as another person refered to in one of the posts.  I am getting down to the complete basics.

1.  Who, by consensus, makes the best lowers?
2.  Is there an advantage or disadvantage to CNCed lowers from billet?

I know there are a lot of guys who know what it was like to even start to consider a build.  It is a dream of mine to build an AR and a 1911, but money wise, I think the AR will be better done first.

For fit, finish and $$$ I went with Rock River Arms lowers for all my builds. I have been very happy with everthing I have bought from them.

Mega Lowers have been great for me.  I have built 4 of them, and they were all great.  I also really like Ameetec.  A friend of mine built a Stag, and I was impressed by the quality (suposedly the people who make Stag also make RRA, though I can't verify that).
