I am doing my first build and am almost complete.  My only hold ups are that the Forward assist will not go in place.  It is the round style and i have turned it every way and place and the pin doesnt seem to hold it in place.  If i do get it in the right place, it just shoots out when i charge the gun.

Second problem is the flash suppressor.  It seems as though it will only go on to a certain point.  I have tried twisting it all different ways and it always ends up that the flat bottom part is at about 8 o'clock position.  I have the washer in place but I cant get it in the right position.

PLEASE HELP!!  If anyone knows the solution to these questions, please let me know.  I have searched high and low and can not find the anwers.  Thanks in advance for the help.

Is your washer a crush or peel type?

Are you pressing the forward assist in about 1/3rd of the way before you drive the pin in?

I have a crush washer.  I tried installing ti both ways and even removed it and the darn thing keeps going to the same posistion.

I have put the forward assist in every position i can think of.  i push it all the  way in and pull it out osme rotate it, everything i can think of and still it wont stay.

Thanks for the help

Thread the comp onto the barrel until it hits the crush washer, then tighten just enough to index it. If you've flattened your crush washer, then you'll have to get another one.
Make sure the FA is pushed in about 1/3, then drive in the pin.

I BET HE HASN'T CRUSHED HIS WASHER ENOUGH- NOT NEARLY ENOUGH.

I like peel washers because I can't seem to crush crush washers without strapping the entire upper into a vice and really cranking on the damn thing.

Don't you have to push the FA in all the way?  You should get a long piece of paracord to hook over the FA and then tie off at the end of the barrel- front sight tower.  you can even use a small punch to make a tourniquette out of the whole deal.  The FA has to be IN in order for the pin to seat and catch it.  you'll need two hands to hold and start the roll pin.

I think i have the FLash Suppressor problem solved.  My only problem is still the forward assist.  I have again tried evey which way to put it in and i just cant get it.  Can anyone tell me what part of the body the pin actually grabs?? Maybe that will help my understanding of what I am trying to hit.  Again thanks for all of the help
