Hey Gang:

I just wanted to querry the group knowledge bank. I would like to put together an accurate upper for plinking and varminting. I like the bushmaster varminter but don't want to buy the $725 completed upper since I already have a ton of AR-15 upper parts already. What I need to know is what is involved in installing the Bushmaster Varminter gas block. The catalog states "experienced Ar-15 gunsmith...." I have built quite a few Ar's and dont want to get in over my head. Can I slip it on and gentlely hammer it in place or do I need a special press?? I'd like to really hear from someone who has actually done this if possible. Thanks ahead of time for the help.

Thanks

I have done it many times and it is relatively simple if you purchase a quality gas block, ensure that it is the proper I.D. inside diameter in relationship to your barrels O.D., outside diameter.

Standard bull barrel O.D. is .936 to .950, super Bull 1.10 O.D.

Lube barrel and gas block with a film of oil and slip it on, the hardest part is gas port matching.
