I'm putting together an A1. It's not all original but it look's the part. My question is, did they only issue 20 round mag's or were 30's also used during the A1's term of service? Just wanting it to look correct as much as possible.

20s were used for most, but someone will know the date of 30 round mags being issued.  I use 20 round mags for any of my pics that are looking for a period correct look.

I think 30 rd magazines started being issued in late '68. Or was it '69?

But whichever, an A1 with a 30rd mag would be as "correct" as with a 20rd mag.

Have at it! And be sure to post pics when you're done.

Great news about the 20's or 30's. The last of the stuff is due today by UPS. J&T had the correct Delta Ring so this weekend I'll put it all together. I'll try and find someone with a digital camera for a pic. Guess I need to buy one but it's more fun getting part's and building toy's.

Stuff it in the magwell and post pics.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I never saw any 30 round mags issued, but there may have been some. We were issued 20 rounders, but only loaded 18 rounds per mag. I left the Army in Dec. 1969.
