I want to thread and attach a flashhider to my post ban.  Can I do this myself or should I be sending it out and if so, to who?  I thought I read somewhere about people renting a muzzle threader.  Can someone point me in the right direction?  THanks

I have read that you can thread an AK barrel yourself but I dunno about an AR15. I need to have one too. The thing is, mine is an HBAR and I thing it may need to be turned down before threading and since I don't have a lathe, it'll probably have to be sent out.
ADCO doesnt charge much for the service and they seem to have a quick turnaround time.

the barrel would have to be turned down to 1/2" before any threading is done

i would send it to adco. reasonable price, great work, really great turnaround!

I had my HBAR Carbine done by ADCO a couple weeks ago...  I'm in Ohio, too, so shipping times were minimal (one day each way), but they only had the upper two days, I think.  Either way, I had it back within 5 business days.  I couldn't believe it...  The Bushmaster looks a bit better with that Phantom 5C2 on it, too.

No - unless you are and experienced machinist, and have a lathe with threading capabilities, this is an operation best left to a gunsmith/machinist.

Don't try it yourself unless you have a lathe.  It's easy to get the upper apart to the bare barrel, then take it to a machinist for turning and threading.

I wouldn't try it yourself. At least i know I'd screw it up, but you may be different. Lots of people mentioned ADCO, I have never had experience with them. I just gave my BM 16" Hbar to my gunsmith and told him to thread and install a flash suppressor to it, cost like $80 for the threading though, dunno if that is expensive compared to adco. So I guess my point is you can prolly get it done locally and correctly.
