Yuck.
Not the first bolt to crack in half at the cam pin hole.  I'm willing to bet  M1 will send you a new one for free, or at least they should.

I know of 2 that broke before the 1500 round mark.

I have always replaced the M1 bolts on the 2 kits I bought.

I emailed them, to see if it will get replaced. Even if they do I am not sure if will trust it. I am going to buy another complete bolt and keep the model 1 bolt as a spare.

Why would you buy another cheap bolt that is prone to breaking to keep as a spare?

Get yourself a nice Colt or  LMT bolt and upgrade your rifle.

Hi

I used RRA - they charge 35.00 for one - and it seems better built, not so much machining marks etc...

You will have to swap out the extractor - but it's not that bad - I used a trimed off end of a .223 case that fills the bolt face to take pressure off the roll pin - and drive it out - reverse to replace.

G'luck

$35 for a RRA bolt is a good price, and a spare bolt or two are always worth having on hand if you and your friends do much AR training.

After seeing this thread I got me a DPMS bolt last night for $35 as well.

To clarify I wasn't going to buy another one of there bolts. I dont have much comfidence in there parts now. I was leaning towards a RRA bolt.

hard to tell from the pic but it looks like the bolt was hardened too deeply. a nice clear shot of the sheared end would tell the tale. you should be able to see the layers of hardness in the grain of the steel.

W/ a screen name like yours I'd think you'd be in cahoots with the Nesard clan.

Hope this will help

I'd swear that looks hard (shiny) all the way through the broken section. Should be dull in the center, shiny on the perimeter.

Tweak is right, it shattered like glass.
