What kind of accuracy can i expect from a RRA 16'' inch barrel?  I'm building an Ar but i can't decide on an M4 or a varminter. You see i need a rifle that can be used for home defense, you know one thats small but i need a AR that is accurate enough to drop anything from a stray cat to a deer at 250-300 yards.  And i'm only going to have enough mony for one for a good while.

                             Please help Choose Thanks.

Well a 16" barell is pretty good, a 20" will be slightly better, especially at distances over 100yards, and most varmint types are 24" which will give another marginal increase in accuracy.  Are you going to scope it or use red dots or iron sights?  If you are going to build a real varmint type gun you'll want the 24" barrel and a nice ($$) scope.  For home defense with a little mid range shooting I would get a 20" hbar, oh wait I already did  If you are planning on doing a lot of 200-300 yad shooting get a 20 or 24" and a cheapo shotgun for home defense.  You really can't go wrong with any of them, the 24 will be unwieldy for anything in a building though.  Clear as mud?

I'v thought about using a bushmaster varminter upper and rock river 16'' and 20'' uppers.
I'm looking for somthing in the middle like twenty inch.  We have been having alot of break-ins in our area and alot of coyotes killing our animals, and by the time i get a shot at a coyote hes about 250 yards out on top of a hill looking back at me.  I really don't need somthing compact, you know its more of a really really want thing.  So i think i'm gonna go with a 20''.  What are some good varmint sopes?  I would reall like a milldot.  And wich should i go with, i'm sure theres noy much of a difference but Bushmaster Varminter or RRA 20''?hould

You can tell a stray cat from the neighbors pet at 300 yards??? let alone even see the danm thing in the first place?

Well the cat shouldn't really be included, just deer, coyote, and bobcat at 300.

lol 300 yds,  shot a deer with an AR Varmiter   in the head at 450   was ideal conditions and is an awsome gun.  Cats at 300 seem like a challenge tho

If you are not concerned about the length, get the 20" RRA Varmint, I think you will like it,
and it is cheaper than the Bushy.

And you don't have to worry about Chrome lined or not, because it's Stainless.
