This is my first build and I have the lower completed with an A2 stock. I noticed if you bump the stock it sounds like a spring rattling around in a metal tube.  Is there any thing that can be done to reduce or eliminate the noise??

a little dab of lithium grease on the recoil spring helped dampen the sproing noise,in my ar.

Plus, the sound changes when the mag is empty!  Once you learn what to listen for.

Also, grease attracts dirt.

Pack the buffer tube with grease!!  Get as much as you can stuff in there!

Forget the fact that the buffer is designed to run BONE DRY!!  And forget about all the grit that will stick to the grease!!

[Irish voice on] 'Tis like the singin' of the angels [Irish voice off]  Seriously, I like to hear the sproing, it tells me stuff is working and if the sound changes, my mag is getting close to empty or there's a problem.  MJD

I had figured out if you put a bunch of grease in it you would turn that little hole in the upper screw into a high pressur grease gun. LOL

Thanks

lol  I think it would explode under the preasure,   kinda like if you have Air in a 4" water line and really sock the water to it instead of letting it in slow,   I think it may be called an air hammer or something,   have seen the after effects of this  first hand knee deep in mud raining while walking uphill in the snow.  man my nuts were cold
