Does anyone know of any way to ID an A2 stock as being a Colt as opposed to any of the other brands?

No, but you can get a cheap one from CDNN.

For what it's worth, I was asking about IDing receiver extenstions a while back.  I got no answer, but the Colt extension I have now is a medium gray.  Also, on the buttplate, the checkering ends before the edge, leaving it smooth as opposed to the raggedy random edge on my other buttplates.

Boltcatch, I kinda figured there wasn't a real good way to tell, but thanks.  The one I just bought matches your description as well- medium gray finish on the rec ext, and well finished butt plate checkering.

The one I purchased from CDNN is exactly as bolycatch describes a true Colt. I have another
from a Match Target when Colt used the plastic trap door and it does not match the CDNN.
Has black extension and checkering runs over edges. But it does have locktite on screws
as Colt allways used. I belive Colt used a different supplier for the Match Target stocks part
of there plan to increase profit at the cost of the consumer as they did with their barrels
when they stoped chroming them and kept prices the same if not went up.

Loctite huh?  The screws on my stock have what appears to be red nail polish on the threads...red loctite maybe?
