| I have a Brownells 7 pc set of punches for AR15s but using them for the first time the two smallest ones keep bending and are pretty much ruined. Can anyone recomend a better set? |
Yep thats it. Great punch set for the money. |

I recently attended an armorer's course given by Sully of Defensive Edge Training & Consulting, Inc.. The four punches we used in class were: doityourself.com Dasco 4 1/2" X 1/16" pin punch -- #6476659 -- $3.69 Dasco 5 1/2" X 3/32" pin punch -- #6472732 -- $3.89 www1.mscdirect.com/cgi/nnsrhm Proto 4 1/4" X 3/32" Tip Super-Duty Roll Pin Punch -- #J49332 -- $4.96 Proto 4 1/4" X 1/8" Tip Super-Duty Roll Pin Punch -- #J49018 -- $5.43 They've tried many different brands, and found the above to be the best quality. |

I use Craftsman punches... for a reason. Small punch will get bent, no matter who makes them. If they are hardened to keep them from bending, they will break. I buy the Craftsman from Sears... then when I get a few that are messed up enough, I take my set down there... and they either will swap punch for punch, or the set, whatever they have. |

You sumbitches, I went by Sears today to pick up a $10 punch set. $86 later I walk out with a new set of screwdrivers, a couple of new Torx drivers (for Leupold bases and rings), a few other little goodies, and a 3 drawer tool box so I can finally organize all my gun tools. I ain't listening any more about how cheap something is, I just paid $86 for a set of 5 Craftsman punches! LOL |
