Searched for this and I did'nt find it to my surprise. I guess I'm the only one confused by this but I hear of two lower hole sizes. I have my first AR stripped lower, stag, is this small or large holed for the pivot and takedown pins??? Why is there two sizes on an otherwise pretty much standard design. Let me guess Colt has somthing to do with this.

![]() Now, where was I.....Oh yeah, the pins on the stag are mil-spec, But these are the trigger pin and hammer pin. Colt has bigger FCG pins to prevent installation of M16 parts in Colt lowers. There was something about Colt having a different size hole for their uppers (big hole, I think) and the rest of the modern AR world has the standard holes for the take-down pins in the uppers. If you get a Colt upper that is very loose on your lower, this is the case. You will need to get a special pin for it to work, but after that, you will have no worries. WIZZO |
| Thankyou Wizzo, I did'nt remember what manufacturer but I saw an upper listed for sale as an A1 but with the smaller holes to work with new lowers. This sounds like there was two sizes made at some point. I like Colt (had an M16A1 in USAF) but sounded like somthing they would do after reading all the posts on arfcom for a year. Again, thanks for the info, I can now purchase my upper. |
