Sorry if this is a silly question. I just got a 16'' barrel from a friend of mine minus the front sight and gas block. It has a pinned mini Y compensator. Will a new sight and gas block fit over the comp? If not, what type of gas block can I use?

Thanks
Denn

Nope.

Any kind that will fit.  Typically, under the gas block is .750"  Remove the mini-y (it may already be loose) and slip on a FSB or block.

Or, buy the YHM block with folding flip up sight, www.yankeehillmachine.com/store/sights.html  and just bolt this one right on without messing with the mini-y.

However, since the miniY is such a loud brake, why not take this chance to ditch it and thread on a flash hider?

Well we took of f the break on my other barrel but it was a P.I.A. Since I live in NY the comp has to permenantly attached. It took a great deal of grinding to get it off and replace it with a mock supressor. I was trying to save myself the trouble of going through that again.

Oh, I forget about you poor ban states.

Well then, that FSB I linked to would work fine, but you'd have to cut off the bayo lug.

Also look at that link thee are two piece gas blocks there too.
