What is your opinion on model 1 sales???
They say all parts included except a stripped lower reciever, do their kits include the parts that go in the lower reciever?
Are they compatible with Mega lowers?
and how is the compatibility of Mega lowers with uppers from different manufacturers?  9mm and .223/5.56.

I've also heard a special wrench is needed for the barrel???  Someone enlighten me, please?

If you do a search for model 1 you'll find alot of posts, I have several and I like mine. Yes it has all the parts that you'll need. yes again it's compatible with mega lowers

their uppers come put together so you shouldn't need a wrench if you wanted to take the barrel off it's the same wrench as any other AR

Model 1 continues to be hit in miss in quality and customer service.  More hits than misses in both categories, but way too many misses for my taste.  YMMV.

I have an M4 upper that I absolutely love.   I have had no problems with it at all.

I just got an XM177 from Model 1 and it looks flawless, all of the parts were there, and they all fit. I couldn't be happier. It took 8 days to get here. I'm satisfied.

I dont buy from them even when they are at the shows. I always buy from sherluk because of their attentiveness and attitude towards customers.

Save your money and buy from a "reputable" vendor. If you buy M1S parts and are satisfied with them, then people on this board will brand you a "Damage Control Account", and accuse you of being an infidel running dog lackey of Model 1 Sales.
At least that's what some genius named "Used Car Salesman" or some such is trying to accuse me and others of doing on another, quite similar thread.
There for, I will refrain from endorsing any product on this website, and sit here and laugh at all the people wasting money on overpriced kits from other vendors.
The only outfit I will ever offer any endorsement of is the United States Marine Corps. So all you wanna-be's, just put your overpriced toy pop-guns back in the closet and go enlist if you want to play soldier. There's a war on. Why aren't you serving?

So AR enthusiasts are wanna-be's? Ya gotta enlist to be worthy? You sound pretty bitter, but I will leave the name calling to someone who is willing to stoop to your level.

As for Mattl, you are doing the right thing seeking direction in your quest.

Because I already did and I'm too old to do it again.

THAT is the answer I was fishing for :) Me too. Been there, done that.

No, I apologize for the bitterness.

That was in response to some A$$nugget suggesting I was a dupe for the above mentioned kit vender. I was pretty steamed at the whole idea.

I have calmed down now. I'll put my angst back tightly inside where I keep it welled up until the next time I explode. That's the male thing to do isn't it?

There is a thing to remember about Model1sales and any other company and that is that someone will knock you for something.  Colt guys are knocked for paying too much and having the wrong sized lower reciever holes.  Bushy guys are knocked for not having an MP stamp and purple finishes on their products.  RRA guys get knocked for not having 4150 barrels.  DPMS and Olympic guys get bashed for past quality control and casted parts.  Kit guys get bashed for being "kit" guys.  So the basic thing is be happy with what you get that works for you.  There is always going to be someone to say your stuff sucks.  The truth is that most of these kit vendors now are offering quality parts that are a far cry from what they were 10 years ago.  The days of plastic deltarings and spraypaint has just about faded away.  If you want a model1sales kit buy it and 9 times out of 10 you will be happy.  The same goes for anyone else.  What would you do if you got a purplr Bushmaster with a canted FSB?  The only thing that truly sucks are painted parts and non interchangeable parts that don't fit from brand to brand.  Remember if it isn't your issue weapon and it isn't magically MP stamped or 4150 steel barreled with a chrome lining then if it fails at a shooting range or hunting trip sent it back for replacement.  It isn't a big deal.

BTW I am the guy that bought the cheapo carry handle so yes there is crap out there but all the kit vendors will give you "milspec" parts at least as far as anodizing and interchangeability go.  You can put a model1sales part on a Colt and vise versa.  Stay away from people that only offer a handful of ARstyle parts.  They are the crap distributers.

+1 on that.

I had to send one of my uppers back, now for the SECOND time, because it STILL shoots 20 MOA to the right:
Dissy CONTINUES to shoot WAY to the right, about 20 MOA!

It is not fixed yet; only got returned the SECOND time yesterday (Thursday, Feb. 24).

Also keep in mind that my luck is bad.  If something can come broken from the manufacturer, I get it.  If something has a lifetime warranty, it has a short life.  My karma attracts all messed up and broken NEW stuff.

M1S has kits that work.Yes, all parts are included (pins, springs, etc.), and they are compatible with Bushmaster, Stag, DPMS, Mega, etc.
For the money the kits will work, as the upper is already assembled anyway. Their QC has been known to be better, but my M4 kit has gone throught over 1500 rounds and is still ticking.

Also look at Del-Ton and talk to Tony: he will be straight with you and fix you up with what you want, and stand behind their work and parts.

I have one from Del-Ton and one from M1S; they both work but Tony was/is better to work with.

Wow,

and here I sit with my over priced pop-gun LMT and Rock River stuff while being enlisted in the US NAVY, which BTW the USMC is a small part of, for the past 12 years and just recommended a M1S 6.8 kit to an acquaintance while keeping jacka$$ comments to myself.  I have all kinds of emotional turmoil going on.  I don't know if I should be offended or stand up and say "Right on".

Okay I guess I am offended....{expletives deleted since I read the rest of the thread with the apology}

I've always been the type to get the best I can afford.  Buy quality once or go budget many times over.

I just ordered a buttstock from these guys!  They better not take 8 days to get it to me, cause they said they were shipping it the morning after I called in the order!

I purchased a 16" upper from Model 1 for my first build.  After ordering, I read all the negative comments about them and got a little worried about what I would receive, and when.  The upper was not a standard carbine, I had them use a fluted barrel, free float handguard, accessory rail gas block, and a phantom fh.  I ordered on a Monday and received it that Friday.  The fit and finish are excellent on my RRA lower.  It is very accurate, looks great, and I got it extremely fast.  I couldn't be happier with my Model 1 upper.
