| What all is involved in cutting my 20" to 16" and installing midlength handguards on it? I guess it must be cut and then drill a new gas hole. Also I believe that I would also have to turn down the end of the barrel to tap and install a flash hider. Is this all of what's involved? How much would a gunsmith charge to do this? |
| Great Question. I’d like to hear from someone who has done this. I built an AR pistol with a 10.5 inch barrel that is just too nosing heavy. I’d like to cut it back to 7.5 in but I don’t want to screw up the barrel. I’m worried about gas whole alignment. I guess I could index of the factory hole and drill the new hole before I cut it off. Does anyone have a measurement as to the placement of a gas hole on a 7.5 in barrel? |
It can probably be done but would probably be much cheaper to but a 16" midlength barrel. |
Much, much cheaper. And more reliable and I'd bet more accurate. |
