Ok, I want to get a M4 Upper. I was about to purchase a CMMG Mod4 upper but I just came across a deal. A buddy has a Colt M4 barrel for sale and a A3 Upper ( I think the upper is a DPMS but not sure, it does have the real m4 feedramps). The Barrel and upper are not assembled. He was planning on building his first AR but I think buyer remorse has gotten to him. I've built several lower receivers but never a upper. The A3 upper is already complete so I think I just need the gas tube, and Delta spring kit to complete this upper. Anyone for see any issues with the Colt M4 Heavy Barrel and the DPMS? A3 Upper? Stupid question: Do I also need a barrel extension? or is this already set with the Colt M4 barrel and the M4 A3 upper? Thanks! |

Great! Will a standard CAR gas tube work for a Colt barrel? I was going to get a RRA Delta ring Kit, RRA Car gas tube, and also a RRA Bolt and Carrier. These should work fine with a Colt M4 Heavy Barrel and A3 upper with the M4 feed ramps right? Thanks for your help. I'm new to building uppers and dont want to mess this up. The lower is just waiting for the upper. |
| Honestly I am not sure what the measuremnt is on a Car Gas Tube and an M4 it just depends on where the FSB is located on the barrel, but gas tubes are cheap so it would be easy to correct the problem I am sure by this time tomorrow someone more knowledgable than me will come along and help you out... Th eonly upper I have done was taking an A@ upper off and changing it to an A# plus installing a Free Float railed forend |
