Hello Everyone,

Well, I joined this site about 6 months ago, and after lurking for a while, decided that I also
wanted to own an AR-15.   My first instinct was to purchase one already completed, but
after reading from so many of you that recommended building your own, I purchased a kit for
the buttstock and upper received and finally the lower from someone on this board.

I decided to build an M4 style gun, and after it was up and running will upgrade it with scopes,
flashlights or rails, or whatever else I want.  But in the meantime I took some pictures and I
wanted to show off a bit.

The only thing that I am missing is the trigger guard, which is the first upgrade I am purchasing,
and is on the way.  It is a rounded trigger guard by rock river arms, which I will install soon.

I also want to thank everyone's encouragement, as well as all of the great guides that are on
this board to find information about the AR15.. and now that I had the opportunity to build my
gun, I am grateful because I know more about my AR15 than I know about any of my other guns.

Please enjoy the pics, and feel free to post any positive or negative things you think.

looks good i'm still waitin' on my upper.  i like the colored "safe" and "fire", dig the auto dot, too.  surprised you went with the fixed carry handle, so many people are into the rail tops, now. looks classic.

Thanks for the compliment.  I'm sorry but I am not that familiar with AR jargon yet.
Can you explain to me exactly what "rollmark" is?  Once you do that I can probably
tell you what it is. :)

Yes, it's definately a Superior Arms Lower.

And thanks again for the compliment.  It truly feels good to have put something so nice with my own hands.  Quite a feeling.

Yeah, I'm not really into the Rail Top.  I like the classic look of the gun.  I figure that I can just put a scope on the top if I ever want one, but other than taht, I like the look of the handle, as well as I like the idea of having someplace to carry the gun if need be.

Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it.

Any possibility of getting a picture with better lighting?  I think it looks good....from what I can see

Very well done!

Bringing a new carbine into this world is a great responsibility.
Be sure to feed it, clean it, and give it the attention it deserves.

Alright guys..

I havent' yet fired my weapon, and am probably going to go to the range in 2 weeks to try out my gun.
I've cleaned it out, oiled it, and I think it's pretty much ready to break it in.

Does anyone out there have any suggestions on the proper way to break in my new AR?

Thanks

You did good for your first build. well from the looks of it.  I brought a used one a week ago, and after shooting it for the past two weeks.  Think I'm going to build my own sooner than I thought.
