I'm going to build a new carbine and I'd really like a lightweight 14.5" barrel, permanent attached phantom and midlength handguards but can't find anything like that.  I'd even settle for a 16" lightweight barrel with midlenth guards but can't find that either.  All the lightweight barrels I find have CAR length guards, and all the barrels with midlength guards have heavy barrels.  Am I the only one who want's a lightweight barrel with midlength guards?

Does what I want exist on someone's shelf, or am I going to have to have it custom made?

Custom job. 14.5 midlengths are rare enough, let alone lightweight ones.

I've got a 16" midlength, ADCO turned it down to .610" under the handguards. Look in the industry section for ADCO.

Here's a 16" midlength stainless barrel with matching bolt from Dennys/GTS. It's a few ounces heavier than an M4 (16"?) but he can flute it if you want to shave a little weight.  I'm building one with a YHM midlength freefloating handguard. You could also go with a 9" LaRue.

That sounds like a fun project.  An A2 mid length, 14.5 with a perm phantom, with a light weight profile.  Maybe even a new lower with an A1 butt stock.  Hmmm.

Why dont you see if you can get a group buy going?  If the price is reasonable I might be able to free up some cash for one...

I knew it.

Park tank is on the list of things to do, but it keeps getting bumped down.  And work gets in the way all the time also.  Worked a double shift last night, looks like Saturday might be a work day also.

i don't think there's a reason to go midlegnth on a 14.5" barrel.  Use a low profile gas block and install FF midlegnth handguards if you want more handguard.
