Is it common for the barrel to be very snug in the upper reciever after after removing the barrel nut? I have a new RRA 9mm upper and just removed the barrel nut (to send out the barrel to have it cut down). The barrel doesn't pull out or wiggle at all. I wanted to ask here before trying to force anything. Should I lightly tap it out from inside the upper reciever? Or is there some trick to it?

Sometimes they are tight in the receiver.

Put the whole thing in the feezer.  Aluminum shrinks faster than Steel when cooled, so it should loosen up.

This is a GREAT thing.  Yeah, just wiggle the shit out of it.... or tap it out (be very careful, use a wood dowel or something to protect the receiver/barrel extension.

So many times, its so damn loose it pisses me off.

If you put the upper on the lower and let the bolt go forward a few times maybe it will get the barrel started out.

I would let it drop softly at first.

The aluminum receiver on the outside will EXPAND faster than the steel, on the inside, with heat.  Try a hair drier, warm it up.

Thanks for all the input, I'll try it tonight

I usually just put a block of wood behind the FSB and lightly tap the wood with a hammer.  It's always worked for me and a few of the barrels have been REALLY tight.

That would make it tighter...

I just pulled a barrel from a new RRA for a paint job and FF install.  It was tight as shit in the upper.  Its a good thing.....
