I'm going to order a few uppers & finally start building some of these AR's myself BUT I already have several AR's uppers & lowers from various manufactures (Colt,RRA,Armalite,& an OLD cast DPMS- for lowers) My concern is fitting the BM uppers on the CMT (RRA,Stag) uppers. (one BM M4 is on a blue label Colt with the offset pin, I'd like to put the original 20" A2 Colt upper back on that one) After reading about the "high shelf" issue with RRA I decided to drop my two Bushy uppers on my RRA lowers & sure enough these would not fit the RRA lower at the back tack down pin area. So if I want some lowers for Bushy uppers, do I have any choices beside BM or Colt ??? Ameetec ?? DPMS ?? THANKS! ![]() |

I've used a couple of my Bushy uppers on my LMT lower and they've fit fine. Just so you know the magwell is a bit tight on my LMT. Brit mags are a no-go and few others(a couple USGI & few new NHMTG) won't drop free. Otherwise fit and function has been excellent. CDKayak |

And - I have several bushy uppers on CMT lowers.... they will fit, with a little fitting. It's not the high shelf that causes the problem, is it the lack of a machined relief area where the takedown lug is, that bushy, colt, etc... lowers have, but CMT does not. You can work a bushy upper by hand (gouges the anodizing of the lower though) and eventually get a bushy upper to fit a CMT lower, or file just a little material from the takedown lug of the upper. I have done just a little of both and get a nice snug fit..... although I'd prefer CMT just do things to spec and remove this issue. My Colt, Oly lowers have all worked fine. |
OK, I looked at that again, I see what your talking about. It was hard to determine where that rear lug on the upper was hitting the lower receiver. |
