The bolt catch plunger seats on the receiver, and is ineffective, is the spring too short? The only two short springs that I have are the disconnector (with the larger bottom) and what I figured to be this bolt catch spring. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the hole is tight? The bolt catch buffer should have free movement.

The springs fits in the whole perfectly but not so with the plunger, could the whole really be wrong?

I just checked the bolt stop plunger in another lower that I've got and it doesn't fit there either. It seats on the whole?

How is it ineffective? it really does nothing till you have a magazine in there to help it work then it just becomes useful only to put the lever back into place, are you using the bolt catch buffer also as you are supposed to between the spring and plunger

It has no "play" in it, no spring action.

So your are saying, when you insert the plunger, it wont go in all the way and gets stuck?  Or wont go in at all?

Be more specific.

I got another plunger from the Armorer at work and it slipped right into the hole. The "original" plunger must be out of spec?

If that was it, then yes.  I had one that was real tight once... had to roll it around on some fine sandpaper and reamed the hole with a drill bit, and it worked fine after that.
