[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Changing Barrels

I recently purchased a rra m4 that I would like to change out the barrel on. I would like to remove the non-chrome lined barrel and install a chrome lined one of the same profile. I've read the tutorials on removing and installing a barrel, but I just haven't been able to get a clear answer if headspace will be affected. I know it is a good idea to always check the headspace after removing/installing a barrel...but typically should changing a barrel change the headspace?

Only if ya remove the "barrel" from the "barrel extension".......

My next (maybe dumb) question is...Would the new barrel come "pre-headspaced" with a barrel extension?

Yes, as long as your bolt doesn't have excessive wear.
