I picked up a stripped lower from a close friend some years back and am wondering if someone can identify it? Who made it and is it of good quality? Appears to be excellent. Left side; E.A. CO. over KR. SPR. LA. located above trigger area. On Receiver mag area;CAL. 223-5.56 over MOD.J-15, over EA. 260xx as serial number. Raised Mag fence, no markings on right side. Has overall Gray matt finish. thanks John L. |
![]() Essential Arms Co. P.O.Box 121 Krotz Springs, La. 70750 tel. 337-945-0185 fax. 337-566-0068 www.essentialarms.com These are excellent receivers, and very inexpensive, always were. I remember buying one for about $59 before the ban. Even now they are only $66. They are gray, like the old original Colt M16's. At one time Essential offered matching A1 and A2 uppers, but these are not available now. You can spray and bake an upper with Norrell's Moly Resin Dark Gray www.molyresin.com which will match the upper to the Essential lower, or you can spray and bake the gray lower with Norrell's Flat Black (Socom). The Essential lower is cast, but most of them were investment cast by Ruger. The machining and finishing is all done by Essential. Essential also makes the rubber coated aluminum CAR buttstocks. These are, in my opinion, the best cast receivers on the market. Over the years I have seen a lot of AR's with Essential lowers, and some have had problems. But none of the problems were due to this lower. And I have never seen one break. Essential never made whole rifles, only receivers and other parts. |
