I'm getting my stripped lowers in soon. I want the best lower parts kit for the money. I want to go with a Colt kit, but SAW (only place I could find them) wants $150 and it doesn't even come with a pistol grip! I've looked at prices on RRA, Armalite, Olympic, Bushmaster and DPMS. All fairly close in price. Which one would you use and why? Just want a standard kit (no match triggers or anything). I will be using these on more than one lower and I want consistancy in quality, fit and finish.

I bought a RRA LPK from Eagle Firearms for $54. The parts all went together with the lower great. No problems at all. I don't know about any other LPK's but I'll be using RRA for any future builds based off of my first experience.

I use DPMS lower kits or RRA when I can't get DPMS. DPMS has the finish I'm looking for plus the spec tolerance
quality is high.  YMMV

I have used RRA no problem.

I wouldn't have/ most people here haven't had problems with RRA, Bushie

Not many people I've heard of use Armalite lpk, but  I haven't heard anything bad about them.

I think DPMS is probably ok too.

I have no experience with OLY and they get sort of mixed reviews on this site, but no word on their lpk's.

I certainly wouldn't pay premium prices for colt parts.  The only things that I would buy that are colts are their bolts or barrels.

I really like Colt's quality, but I won't pay $1500 for a weapon with an out-of-spec lower. Unfortunately, the parts are also too high and hard to find.  I'd buy a complete kit, if they offered them. Maybe someone will take that idea and run with it.

Anyhow, XD_Fan, what's the finish like? I was thinking it is more of a ghost grey finish on the steel parts. I think I bought a front push pin from them a couple of years ago. If LMT would release LPK's, life would be good. It would be nice if the manufacturers would show close-ups of parts, instead of diagrams.

DPMS has worked out really well for me.

Thanks for the heads up bmmc, but those are large pin Colt LPK's.
May just order two or three different sets and see first hand. Can always sell the others on the EE.

I like J&T's kits.  They are $55 plus shipping I think.  They claim they are Colt parts.  No way of knowing, but they are the best I have used.
