I am a noob so please bear with me as I am doing research on what to get. What are people opinions on threaded barrels? I saw in the AR15 article section that claimed threaded was less accurate. What do people think? I want to build my first ar15 and thinking about getting a complete upper assembly with a threaded barrel now to mount a threaded FH or brake after AWB Sunsets. Would you get a threaded M4 profile 14.5" or threaded m4 profile 16"? Looking at Bushmaster stuff and see that it Might be possible to get threaded optionthrough them. Anyone ever get this done and know the cost/turnaround time? Is having a threaed barrel on an upper a violation in itself? |
| I use a threaded barrel if I want to screw something onto it. I don't use a threaded barrel if I need to squeeze the last MOA from the barrel. You cannot get a barrel less than 16" without permanently making it 16" or registering it as a SBR. If you're thinking about thread after the ban sunsets, you might just as well wait till Sept to get your barrel; it's usually more expensive/PITA to have a barrel threaded after the fact. |
