Sorry no pics yet, but I have finally finished my AR. I wanted to list the basic steps I took and see if anyone can spot a screw up and let me know. I degreased the threads of the upper reciever and the barrel nut, Cleaned, then I used Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) lubricant on my reciever threads and barrel nut. put it in a vise (action block) hand threaded it on used my armors wrench to get it good and snug. Then I slapped a torque wrench on my Armorers wrench and I had it set for 35ftlbs, but just as predicted my barrel nut "teeth" didn't meet up with gas tube hole. It was slightly off so I a tightened the barrel nut just a bit more. And the gas tube had a fairly tight fit, went together fast once I realized my handguard cap was barely obstructing the gas tube hole. Next I am going to take it to a local gunsmith to get the headspacing checked, then I will be off to the range. I seemed to have gotten a little of the Molybdenum grease smeared across my upper reciever. Should I use a little degreaser to get it off? As soon as I get a little more cash flow I will buy a membership to AR15.com and then buy a a digital camera, untill then I am POOR_MAN. |
