Hey, I seem to remember seeing something about a "throated match chamber" on another forum and was wondering if anyone could give me some details, and a general price range (I hate money..) Thanks, steve.

The throat of a chamber is just the distance after the last of case mouth cut to the begining of the rifling.

On match chambers, the throat is cut shorter from the last cut to insure that the bullet just kisses the rifling lands at loading.  This leads to a double egde sword since when using some factory ammo, the bullet is actual jamed into the rifleing on loading and causes the ammo so show signs of over-pressure.

The positive side of short lead distance is that you can hand load to have the bullet tip just kiss the rifling, and still fit into the mag (over all lenght).

If your not planing on reloading, then don't even bother having a barrel with a match throat (shorter lead) installed on your rifle.
