| I am looking at doing a 6.8 ultra light build. A pretty sweet plan really, having the performance of 6.8 in a package under 5lbs (that will probably be good enough for me, but I could even get it closer to 4.5). Anyway, I need a barrel first of all. I guess I want it chrome lined. Do you think Barrette would sell me one? |
WOW! Thats expensive! Makes Modle-1 Sales 6.8 kit look that much sweeter since it's only $530 bucks!! http://www.model1sales.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=KCEM46R610&storeid=1&image=carm416e68r.gif |
| The post ban is only $475. I was trying to decide if I wanted a 5.56 or 6.8 upper since I'm moving to Mexifornia next year and anything that goes bang is bad, my limit is on the FAB-10 but apparently some number of 6.8 ammo will fit in 5.56 mags. Currently leaning toward a 5.56 cause it's ~$60 less than the 6.8. |

Buddy, as obscure and expensive as 6.8 ammo and mags are right now, if you don't already have an Ar in 5.56 you need to get one of those. hopefully US Mil will adopt 6.8, if and when they do 6.8 will be a made cartridge, but even then, 5.56 will be a better SHTF rifle for a while. I though you couln't have semi auto in Kali? F'n left coast. |

I am sure it kicks, but an autoloader shooting a 115gn projectile at under 3000fps can't exactly kick like a mule. I would reserve that term for like a 12gauge 1oz slug or a 300 Rem Ultra Mag. I guess I should say that it will be a light build rather than an ultralight build. But I want to maybe be able to shoot this w/ my Gat Trigger activator, so I'll definately have a muzzle break, maybe a BOSS w/ break. |
LA isn't getting any better one of your representives is trying to go the same way as Mexifornia. Anyway yes you can have semi-autos in CA quite easily now. Their bitch with 'assault' weapons is center fire rifle with detachable magazine. Note the detachable mag part. Some ingenious company in Nevada came up with a brilliant idea. They made a receiver with a built in 10 round mag. My choice to go with 5.56 for now is that I should be able to drop 6.8 ammo into a 5.56 mag at a loss of X rounds, probably two or three unless I replace the mag in question. There's also the fact that 6.8 is obscure and if it does catch on prices on uppers as well as ammo will drop. Who knows maybe if/when the USG adopts 6.8 the laws in Mexifornia will be a bit less anal. |

I'm really not a resident of LA. I'll be in FL full time soon here, one of the more Gun friendly states. B/C I am not a LA resident, I really have not been abreast of LA politics. Anyway, LA is irratating b/c it doesn't really have a republican party now, that is very well established. There are all these ol'timey Huey Long lover running around still. The people who have been testing these 6.8 rifles on this site, say that, though a 5.56 mag may feed the 6.8 somewhat, it is not reliable unless the mag is modified so as not to be able to feed 5.56 reliably. So w/ you welded mag, you really have to choose. You could always get a pump Ar15 w/ detachable mags |
