If I bought the 16" Post-Ban CAR kit from Model 1 Sales, and got the "LE stock option" as shown on the top rifle in the pic. Would it still meet the legal requirement for overall rifle length? I would be building a rifle with a Post-Ban Lower. http://ranger.zftp.com/KP/car16post.gif |

I was under the impression the minmum was 30". These are model 1 kits, top is on a Double Star receiver, bottom 2 are on Rock River receivers. The top rifle and Bottom are both 16" kits, top is a light weight, bottom is SS barrel with a free float hand guard. Top is with a ACE shortie skeleton stock and bottom is with the LEO stock, Both measures are 31" total length. |

Rimfire, the lowers are a Bushmaster and an ArmaLite They actually measure 31 1/2" OAL... When I typed '34' this morning I still had my new SPR project in my mind and not enough coffee in my system... [;)] |

Yes... the former Michigan AG was a moron... Rimfire, this applies in Michigan: Collapsible/folding stocks: If the weapon is 30" or less in OAL with the stock collapsed/folded but over 26" with 16" rifle or 18" shotgun barrel the weapon must be registered... If the weapon is under 26" in OAL or barrels less than 16" rifle or 18" shotgun the weapon is a short-barreled rifle or shotgun and illegal... AG #6280 as I remember... As long as the stock is fixed and the rifle barrel over 16" federal law applies, but my SBR project will have to wait til I get back to Florida or out to Arizona... |
