Can anyone recommend or list the book or manual they used when first building thier
ARs? I am not currently building a rifle but the thought has crossed my mind and I would like to attempt it in the future. I am currently reading a book by Duncan Long and its good but I'd like something a little more detailed if it exists. Thanks for any replies.

There are good instructions on assembling a lower on our website, but if you want a book this is the one:

"The AR-15 Complete Assembly Guide" by Walt Kulek and Clint McKee

I used this book, it's a pretty good one:

Build Your Own AR-15

I recently bought both "The AR-15 Complete Assembly Guide" by Walt Kulek and Clint McKee and "Build Your Own AR-15" by Duncan Long.

Without a doubt "The AR-15 Complete Assembly Guide" is a 10x better book for building an AR than Mr. Long's book.

The "Build Your Own" is filled with too much useless dribble about the different types of AR, Pre-ban\Post ban issues and other things that most people probably already know before reading this book. The assmebly guide get's right to it with better, clearer directions and with very detailed pic. for almost every step.

Thank you for the recommendations looks like Kulek's book is the way to go.
