The Nightforce scopes I own, and every one my associates own, is of unbelievable quality. The clicks are absolutely repeatable. In my opinion, the optical clarity is every bit the equal of the S&B's I've owned. Unlike the S&B's, the Nightforce has huge amounts of windage and elevation travel available. Why the Germans believe that a few measly minutes in either plane is adequate escapes me. But then, you don't see any Germans at Wimbledon or Palma matches, do you? Then there's eye relief. The primary reason I got rid of my S&B's on my .308 guns (other than the fact that they don't have enough elevation travel to get you to any meaningful distance, or enough windage travel to keep you in the X if you could get out that far) is that I got tired of getting smacked in the eye. All the German glass seems to suffer from this deficiency. My guess is that they're trying to re-create the modern equivalent of the Heidelburg dueling scar. The eye relief on the Nightforce, on the other hand, is most easily measured by those two guys you see at football games carrying the two polls with the connecting chain. The one caution on the Nightforce is that it's REAL heavy. This is due to its sewer pipe-like construction. Luck, SD |

I just put a NF 5.5-22 Mildot scope on my AR-50 50BMG very good quality optics w/110 MOA of elevation 65 Moa or windage. Target knobs postive clicks clearly marked .25 MOA adjustments yeah, they are very big and heavy, as stated before the scope tube is 3 time thicker then other scopes, Laser etched retical (can't Break) Lifetime waranty... Luminated retical also, recomended top notch 762 |

I would go with Nightforce I like the Schmidt & Bender but they cost a lot more for not as much scope. Nightforce in my eyes are the best precision scope out there. Gatman762 the 5.5-22 have 95moa (Elevation) and 65moa (Windage). I'm not trying to rude ever thing else is right on the money. | NF all the way, Great company and awsome people to work with, I do not own any of there stuff but my family and the vice pres. family are really close friends. My old man took a tour at the plant in Idaho and said the test they do are insane. Anyways just my .02, gotta push for the friends of the family. By the way no experiance with the other brand. | I have a 5.5-22x56 NF NXS sitting on my DPMS 308LR, and all I could say when it arrived was OH MY GOD! It's about as big as a freakin' baseball bat, but the clarity is unbelievable. I pretty much ignore all my other optics since I got the NF. It gets swapped to/from every rifle I own depending on what I'm doing that particular day--I just keep good records where each rifle zeros, and it's completely repeatable when using quality rings. (Warne tactical QD right now, will probably put a set of Badgers on eventually) I really like the illumination knob, just a tug on the objective adjustment and it's on...slap same knob and it's off. I'm using the R2 reticle, simpler ranging than mildot with 2 moa vertical, 5 moa windage hash marks. I wouldn't really call this a tactical scope due to the size and weight, but for my needs, it's worth every penny. Just so I don't sound too much like a NF employee, I do have one gripe--to adjust the intensity of the reticle illumination, you need to take out the battery and turn a tiny little screw rheostat...it's not difficult to do, but an external rheostat would be nice. |
