[ARCHIVED THREAD] - pre-upper and post-lower

Thinking about doing a pre-ban upper CAR M-16 commando kit from Model 1, with a post-ban lower from ??? Can it be done, and more importantly, leagally? Any advise on how to proceed ( or not ) would be greatly appriciated.

the serial on the lower is what determines whether it can have the preban features

I know this has probably been said or asked before but one could buy the M4 upper and have the bayo lug ground down and screw on and pin weld a Muzzle brake on bringing it up to >16" right? Then it's legal.

Amen...we all need to check this list and see if there is anything we can do in our area for this Sept. http://www.awbansunset.com/scoreboard.html I happen to live in the district with Marcy Kaptur...so, nothing that can be done here, but there are swing districts and if you live in those you need to contact your congressman. We have a damn good chance of succeeding and ending to BS that causes normal Americans to worry about filing lugs and silver soldering breaks!
