I need a new quality AR-15 trigger group (everything including pins and springs) for my SHTF PWA/Bushy carbine. I'm not interested in match triggers... just the standard stuff. Brownells offers a DPMS kit for a decent price, but I've been hearing differing opinions on DPMS's quality control. I'm also considering Bushmaster parts. Any suggestions. What should I definitely avoid? I can install the parts without too much hassle but I don't know if the engagement surfaces need stoned or specially fit. Some advice here would be much appreciated.. Thanks |

Most times the parts go in without any problems, sometimes a little fitting is required, but not often. I'd stay away from the engagement surfaces, they can be easy to mess up if you don't know what you are doing. The engagement services are usually surface hardened, if you go through that hardened surface...not good! |

Man, it really doesnt matter. I have had lower parts kits and factory service triggers from just about all.... they buy these parts from several of the same sources... and they are ALL hit and miss. Dont think by selecting one vendor you will get a good trigger. Every bushmaster I own has a different feeling trigger. It just depends on the hammer and trigger engagement surfaces.... and those are not entirely consistent across manufacturing runs. I mean, they will likely all work perfectly.... but if you are looking for one brand that will consistently have less creep, cleaner break, less gritty pull, etc.... then you will be looking a long time. Just buy one.... and if you dont like it, buy another and keep your first one as a spare. If you want to be picky, get a RRA match trigger for less than $100 and be done with it. |

Quoted: I just want something durable and reliable. I have yet to own any factory service trigger (that was not modified in any way) fail to be durable and reliable. I am a fan of the 15 minute trigger job, but remember, in some cases, with hard primers, it does reduce the potential reliability. If this is your (truly) SHTF weapon, then you might want to at least keep an extra (unclipped) spring onhand if you do that. |

Different pieces... different geometry. The RRA trigger is consider by many to be robust and reliable enough, and to have a strong enough pull weight (4.5-5lbs) to be used on a service weapon.
