Are there any advantages in performance between a 16" M4 barrel and a regular barrel like a bushmaster superlight?

I'm not a barrel expert but usually heavier barrel = better accuracy.

I don't believe heavy necesarily equates to accuracy, but it will remain accurate for longer periods of time in the same shooting session.  The lighter the barrel, the faster it will heat up, but it will also cool faster once it is hot.  However, the hooter the barrel is, the greater the change in point of impact from point of aim.

If it is just for range use, the heavy barrel will allow you to keep tighter groups.  For field/duty/SHTF use, the lighter the barrel, the easier it will be for you to carry it and for longer periods of time.  It will also swing to your target faster.

I just went from an Hbar16" to a M4 profile 14 1/2" w/KKF A3 tac brake, and the weight savings is unbelievable, the gun feels so much easier to handle and manuever.  My little brother had the same setup (M4 barrel) and when we used to shoot his seemed everybit as accurate as mine.  so I at least saw no difference in the heavybarrel aiding accuracy, just adding weight.
