Has anyone built up one of the LE kits from J&T?  I'm leaning heavily towards one of these (but with either an A2 or ACE stock)...just wondering how satisfied you are with accuracy, weight, etc.  Thanks!

I haven't built a LE kit, but the 20" J&T kit I built turned out GREAT!!!  It's quite accurate and I was pulling sub-1" groups with it at 100 yards last Friday.

Your rifle looks great, Edge!

I mispoke slightly, I was referring to the Tactical Lightweight Kit that J&T offers.

I think I will upgrade to the ACE stock...just trying to decide whether to go A2 or A3 w/handle.  I don't plan to put optics on it, so I was leaning towards A2 (which I think should save a little weight too).

No prob, Ottergt!

On the upper, I'd recommend the A3 with removable carry handle.  I, too, don't really have plans to mount any optics on my A4, but you never know... and it's nice to be ready and have spent the little bit extra up front to save the extra expenditure and headache down the road.  It's not much heavier than an A2 (perhaps by a few ounces at the very most?), and this configuration IS what the USMC is purchasing, from the last I heard from the boys in the field.

As for ACE, I don't have any of their AR stocks, but I just received a skeleton stock from them for my Daewoo DR-200, and the quality on it is remarkable!  I've seen quality work before, and theirs is right at the very top!  Everything fit PERFECTLY, and all parts are beautiful!  I highly recommend their products!

Let us know what you decide to go with!

I'm not sure about accuracy, but I fondled one at Knob Creek, with the A3 upper (minus carry handle), with an Ace stock, it had to be less that 6 lbs.!  I'm still trying to convice my financial manager aka wife, that I need one.

I would expect, judging from their quailty it would not be any accuracy issues.

Everyone that has posted on the ACE really seems to have high praise for it...I figured that if I didn't like it, I wouldn't have any difficulty finding someone to take it off my hands ;-)

Thanks for the info Chad!  J&T estimated about 6.5 lbs for a complete rifle with stubby stock...sounds like you concur (in the ball-park).  It should still be under 7 lbs with the stock swap & carry handle (I hope).

Ottergt, remember this word..."YET"...you don't want optics YET hehe...but you might some day.  I've got 3 ARs, and they're all flat tops...I enjoy swapping sights/scopes back and forth, just because I can [:D]...you will too!

I'm convinced...A3 it is.  (THAT was real tough, wasn't it?  twist twist)

Like Edge767 said...cheaper to get it now than to have to pay for it later (with a whole new upper).  It's just money...I'll make more tomorrow :)

And they say SARS is contagious...it apparently has nothing on Black Rifle Disease.  (And for those who have been living under a rock, SARS is NOT an addiction to cheap Romanian AK's...)

I built the tactical lightweight kit with a few changes, I went with the A2 stock, and green furniture. I regret NOT getting the A3 with removeable handle. If you can, go this route, just think of all of your options down the road. FWIW, I love my kit, and it runs flawlessly.

Thanks for the info ScrubJ!  So what did your kit weigh in at with the A2 stock?  I like the feel of the A2 on a 16" rifle, but wasn't sure it would feel right on this kit.

To be honest, I didn't weigh the thing. I'm a rather large fellow, and the A2 stock feels  and fits just fine. I don't think the fluting/A2 stock upsets the balance of the rifle in any way YMMV.
