Hi all I got my RRA complete lower today and I joined it to my J&T "FN" barreled upper. The fit was (is) very tight seemingly from the rear lug (or whatever its name is, I do not know what the official names for all the parts are) scraping on the left inside of the lower. The fit is so tight that after pressing them to each other driving the pin, I had a hell of time getting the pin back out and I had to break the rifle open over my knee.I can tell where they bind because of scratches on the finishes. Temporarily I fixed the problem by blowing in some graphite dry lube, and now everything works as it should, but I suspect that it will go back to the previous state if I clean it. I would appreciate any advice on how to solve this. I dont want to just take a file to it, this being my first AR I suspect there are better solutions. Loch |

Leave it alone, tight is good. Over time, the upper and lower will loosen up due to wear, and the rifle will open with ease. Just keep two lubed with a light coat of CLP and be happy. P.S. That fact that the RRA receiver is milled to the smaller tolerances is the reason that I like it. The fact that on some other receiver, the fit to the upper is loose as hell and need to find ways, like the accuwedge, to tighten them up. |

Well, I'm glad to hear that this is a good thing, but should I worry about repeated wear on the binding areas? Also I am reluctant to use the barrel as a lever to get the thing opened whenever I want to clean it. Is there some trick to opening a tight fitting rifle? Loch |
