hope you guys can help me make a decision, here. i've read alot (and searched a little), but can't find the exact question i have: i have a birthday coming up and my mom will buy me a stripped lower if i want one (she's cool). i already have an AR, but it's kind of an heirloom and i want to put somethin together for duty use. i thought i had decided on the J&T kit, but their prices just jumped a little. i've read good things (on this site) about Sherluck and things that make me want to avoid Model 1. i haven't seen anything about M&A , though. on the kit, what i'm tryin to figure is: is it worth the extra bux to go with J&T? as for the lower, i've found two that are priced right- armscorp and olympic. i've always heard "second rate" talk about the Oly's, but it was from the die-hard "ABC" guys. is one better than the other? are they both inferior to somethingelse i should be getting? also, the pix of the armscorp & the oly are both from the bolt release side, so i couldn't see if they have that little wall around the mag release, do they? my ol' preban Pony doesn't. thanx in advance for the info. |

Lets us know what type of receiver you want and I we tell you were to get one. Just so you know, all the bare receivers, excepted Bushmaster and Colt, can be purchased for less than $100, then sent to a FFL near you to do the transfer (around $20). So don't let price be your deciding factor for the bare receiver. As for your old receiver not having the mag button fence, it’s an old design. The new receivers will be modeled after the A2 receivers (with the fence). Dano |

dano, the ones i found were in shotgun news and were about that price. i knew colt and bushy weren't that cheap (wasn't sure about rra). i have no clue what the differences would be if they're all forged. what should be the "deciding factor". you said to tell you what kind of receiver i wanted? did you mean the upper? 16"a2 fixed handle. if you meant lower... i don't know what kind i want/need. are the bushy's and colt's actually better or just more expensive? thanx |

If you don't plan of dropping in a RLL to make the rifle a full automatic, then go with the Rock River Arms from Pete. The lower is the forged and is milled a little undersized. When you drop the JT upper on the RRA lower, the texture and color will match, and the rifle will be nice and tight, with no upper/lower movement. Also, call Pete up and he should have a list of FFL's in your area to call and see how much they will charge for the transfer. Since you going to pay directly Pete for the upper, and Deal directly with RRA if you have a problem, just find the cheapest FFL for the transfer. As for the upper, I am going to be building up another Car (pre-ban lower) soon and will be going with the C-7 upper myself. The A-2 sights are a waste on a Car, and the C-7 upper has the same features as the A-2, but has the A-1 rear sight (less to flop around). |
| I recently bought an Oly t-3 forged lower and a J&T upperThe lower went together like a dream w/no problems whatsoever. The upper is glossier than the lower however. If you'd like a pic of difference in finishes, e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll send one to you. (I don't know how to post pics here) |
