Building a KISS 10.3" AR pistol using stock M4 handguards. Looking for a lightweight solution for mounting a flashlight to it, and ideas for a budget flashlight. Really don't want one of the front sight block mounts, as if I mount a flashlight that far out, it will be sitting at or past the flashhider.

Don't want to put magpul handguards or anything on it. If I'm not using a railed forearm, I find the stock ones are most comfortable for me.

There's no good hipster KISS way to mount a light.

In the past 20 years hand guards come with KISS ways to mount lights.

Maybe youcan find one of those old Surefire hand guards with a light built in.

Need to find you a section of rail or go with a different set of hand guards like a Magpul MOE

What are you talking about? *chuckles*

I've been looking at the IWC TMC 1" LIGHT MOUNT-N-SLOT, and am really liking that concept. The intent for this rifle is a hiking buddy down here near the border. KISS might not be the best nomenclature, but simple. It's going to have a spare ACOG I have laying around on it, fixed FSP, and a spare KAC rear BUIS on it.

I've used the old surefire handguards with the built in flashlight overseas....and hated it. Damn thing broke on me, twice. For the right price, I'd use one...but it would have to be right around free for me to consider it.

I really like that light. This is my first venture into a lightweight setup - I have a old M961XM07 kicking around still, but that's just too much for this.

IWC TMC + G2X tactical = good simple light and mount for around $100.
IWC stuff is top notch. I have the SMC MOE mount on 2 rifles.

This mount with a streamlight polytac would serve you well. I used a polytac on my shotgun for a while and then switched it to the AR for a few years and it never gave me issues, great light at a great price.

MCTAR-01 FSB mount or one of many bayonet mount rail accessories + pistol light (e.g. X300, TLR-1):

I used a short magpul rail mounted through holes in handguard on top and then used the magpul light mout. You can use a 1 inch poly tac style or rail mount. I currently have a little tlr3 on it.
