I know its been asked before but flashlights evolve quickly, havent seen this discussed in a while.

Im looking for an aa flashlight for my AR. It can be a handheld light with a mount or one made for guns like a tlr. 2 cells is fine. Im hoping for 300 lumens but not sure whats out there. Thanks guys.

LOL, I'd also like to know the latest. IMO, not worth the time. It's obvious no one has the correct ingredients. A light of that type and size, it's not could it work, it's that they can't seem, to figure it out yet.

If you want distance, look to the very effective handheld types. What can you"build"? Build your own. Get creative. BUILD IT!!

I think you'll have better end results for the need

The only decent AA WML currently available that I'm aware of is the Surefire M600AA, but it's pricey and only 200 lumens (I'd like a decent AA WML myself).

In Double "AA",  dual barreled, four batteries, two @ 11 o'clock, head @ 12 o'clock,  two @ 1 o'clock fits the need.
Streamlight <<--or-->> Surefire
Long overdue IMHO. Who's going to be the first?
For that matter a cr123 sized light is also a great concept

I was looking at the four sevens quark AA
http://www.amazon.com/FOURSEVENS-Quark-QP2A-X-Finish-Lumens/dp/B007JO9HDG/ref=sr_1_4?tag=shuttermuse-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1406674191&sr=8-4&keywords=foursevens

And the fenix ld22
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KA50G68/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1450848141&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=fenix+ld22&dpPl=1&dpID=51%2BdFt0WLIL&ref=plSrch

Both of which have lumens in the 300 range. Not sure how to mount them though and wether they can handle the recoil  (i have an ar10).

Interestingly this little zebralight shoots out over 500 lumens on 1 AA. Why cant we have atleast that in an AA

Actually the SC52 only breaks 500 lumens when powered by a 14500 lithium ion battery, using a regular AA NIMH will only get you 300 lumens.

Aaah i see, thank you.

Still 300 lumens out of one aa is alot.

If i do decide to go with any of those handheld lights, where/how should i start looking for clamps?

I just discovered the Sig Sigtac STL 300 Stoplite. It has a 450 lumen Cree LED built into a vertical foregrip and uses 4 AA's. Controls look fairly ergonomic, even for the included laser. While I have no interest in a laser, the rest looks interesting and I may have to pick one up for experimentation.

If you go this route only get a single stage light.  The recoil will cause the batteries to chatter and switch modes on you (this is not a good thing)

Have an M600AA and I'm a bit underwhelmed by the 200 lumens.

This is also within my interest because I wanted a SHTF setup that is ALL AA batteries...and let's face it, buying 123s on the civilian side just isn't worth it. (Don't hate)

It sure looks like Surefire is coming out with a dual illum AA that is supposed to be 250 lumens white light but its not out yet (labeled the M600VAA.

Another option out there is to have HDS Systems build you a AA bodied light with your choice of LED.

I think the ideal would be a light made to run on 14500s day to day, that can run on AAs in a pinch (it would just have lower output).  I just bought a light like this for my Dad, but it is a single AA/14500 and set up for GP carry, would be a poor weapon light.

It's out of production from what I could figure out.

Who'd have thought that 2 1.5v AA batteries would have the performance of a single-cell 3v CR123 while being bigger than a 2-cell CR123 light? Lol.

POS, run and quickly.

Looking into the AA sizes a bit more and found the Mini TC-6 AA XML2. It has the profile

It puts out 320 lumen, 2-mode Low/High. 1-mode/high would gain more of my interest.

Finding/making a mount "should be" fairly easy
There's not much for a review anywhere. http://www.customlites.com/Mini-TC-6-AA-XML2-SH-TC6-Min.htm

I think that this would be the best solution at the current time of AA battery technology.  I have a COAST pocket clip single AA flashlight that can run on 14500 battery and it doubles the effective output of the light with a slightly shorter run time.
