Id like some opinions on an idea i have for a DIY flashlight diffuser.
The flashlight im looking to mount on my AR is a retina burning 750 lumens.
Now thats abit much for a CQB situation. Turning the sun on in a small dark room would most likely blind everyone, not just the bad guy.
So i was thinking of maybe finding a flip open cap, sorta similar to the butler creek scope caps, that i could modify into a diffuser.
I might start out with cutting out a small hole in the center, or maybe a few around the outside and leaving the center.
If that doesnt work out to well, i was also thinking of cutting out the center and attacking a white or tinted plastic piece.
Does this idea sound like gtg? or would i be better off buying one?

The flip up diffusers are around $80. You can search "surefire diffuser" on ebay and there are some $10 Chinese options. If it breaks you could use the lens diffuser with your scope cap idea.

Just depends on how much money you want to spend.

My lens broke on a Quark and I discovered white cylinder (Paper strip around black wall of the head) removed the hot spot in the center and widened the spill with the excess reflection off the white sides.
As an alternative mount a second light with the cone pained white.
My Quark set up lights the whole room without making me blind from the flash.
I can also clip it to my cap and use it like a trouble light.
