I have a few Streamlight weapon lights and am happy with them.  I have a new AR purchase and need a light so my default is to get another Streamlight but I am asking here if there is a better option.  I have the VIR on my other AR and while I have swapped it out (because I don't use IR) I went back to it.  Why?  I like the option of VISIBAL/IR/OFF.  This was important to me without knowing for the fact that I can switch it to OFF and still accidently hit the switch or the pressure pad and the light will stay off.  I also don't have to worry about killing the battery on transport in a case.  I didn't think having off would be important but it was.  My other models just have ON/OFF or the laser ones have LIGHT/LASER/BOTH.  With being on an AR and having a pressure pad I think its nice to have an off option.

So does that make sense or should I just suck it up and get something else?

If you already have it and like it you might as well keep it. The standard streamlight remote tail cap has three settings on it. ON/TAPE SWITCH/ OFF, which will fit on any TLR 1 lights. I guess if you don't use IR I don't know why you would want it.

If your pressure switch is accidentally activating you have it placed in a bad spot. It should be recessed somewhere easily accessible but not in a spot that a bump will turn it on. The 12 oclock on a rail is a decent spot for it, so is sitting between rail space at the 10/11 oclock (at an angle).

Your other option is to just go with a clicky cap surefire type light (with the protected cap). There is literally no way to accidentally activate it.
