I have the DBAL-I2 and I was wondering if anyone else has it. If so, what's the best rifle to mount it on? 10.3" pistol or 14.5" rifle? Should I mount it towards the front sight or more towards the recievers?

You can see by my pic that I have it on my factory DD MK18 pistol mounted behind the front sight

I had a Dbal on my mk18. tried both locations, there are pro and cons of each. neither was optimal for me on such a short rail but I made it work.

It really comes down to grip placement and activation technique as well as your IR lights placement and activation method.

how do you hold your rifle? VG? C clamp? mix?

How do you plan to activate it? button or remote? duel remote or 2 different remotes for light and laser?

I personally wouldn't run it on a a pistol because it will be tough to get a stable shooting platform without a stock, assuming you're shooting with helmet mounted NV.

I like to mine farther to the rear for balance issues. Out in front it feels like it really unbalances my rifle

Mount it as far forward as possible.  Any grip in front of the laser could interfere with its emitters.

All of mine are as far forward as they can possibly go. As far as what is the "best" rifle for a DBAL, the answer is the same for what is the "best" rifle for any aiming device, like irons or RDS. It'll work well on anything for its intended purpose, which is to aim at night using NODs.

I have my LAM Class3b unit mounted just behind the front BUIS. PWS MK110 (10.75") I have found this to be the best all around location for an IR device.
