I am looking to upgrade some of my lights. I have a few G2 nitrolon models and a G2Z that I would like to convert to LEDs. I have looked at Surefire's conversion heads, but with the expense I might as well buy complete new units. Plus, I have holsters accessories, etc, that I would like to keep using. Does anybody just manufacture a replacement drop in lamp assembly for these lights? I have the P60 in the G2 lights and both the P60 & P61 lamps for the G2Z. I don't need the greatest whiz-bang highest lumen output, just something at least equal to what I have with better battery life and runtime. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, what is the deal with the old Laser Products and early Surefire 3P? I went looking for a replacement R30 lamp for mine, and couldn't believe the flashlights were going for $150-$300 on ebay. Is there something special about these I don't know about? |

Big chunk of brass to sink the LED and they're American made. If you need something a bit cheaper, look at Solarforce for P60 drop-ins. |

Malkoff's website says that the M61L is the highest output LED they have (at 175 lumens, less for the warm tint) that can be run for extended time in a plastic light. for a plastic light, keep your output low if you plan on running more than 'tactical use'. |

Thanks for your help! I think I will get the Malkoffs since they are on par with Surefire pricing with more output. Can't help but feel superbly obsolete though as I could buy new G2X models from Surefire for about the same money.
I never knew this light stuff could be so technical, but the innovations are outstanding. |
