About time. SF needs to work on releasing the 600u, 600u replacement heads and upgraded 600v heads, instead of wrist lamps. Agreed. Wrist lights seem like a gimmick to me. About damn time the M600U became a reality. From what I've read about the E2DLU, this beam & output should be absolutely amazing. Quoted:
So,....where did you get that? I need to upgrade. ETA: I just looked at the OP's screen name. Nevermind. LOL |

Unk re the U Boat as we don't use pistol lights on carbines.
Understanding that i have no sophisticated testing equipment so we are talking only initial observations and nothing else. The 600U has a very tight hot spot, with a large, ill defined corona. The Fury has a slightly less bright hot spot, with a large, bright corona, and a wider less bright corona. The U boat and the Fury have a very similar beam, but i haven't tried it against a 600U From our experience in a years worth of shoot house classes, the Fury's light is optimal indoors, and very useful outdoors as well. Strangely, not one shooter or instructor was blinded during these classes... YMMV of course. |

I use it because its 100% ambi, very light and compact, offers momentary or constant, and is very well protected as its backed up against my fsb. |

Based on my observations, it is not as durable.
That yours is backed up against the front sight base mitigates the weak point. The switchology does not fit my requirements as i also run a MFAL and need to be able to run both without changing my firing grip. Hope this helps |

Basically....you see no downside to how I'm running mine, and I should continue in confidence, is what I'm asking? |

Please don't put words in my mouth. I don't use pistol lights on cabines. Basewd on my observations they are not as dureable I have no idea how you run your gun, so any comments i make re your grip/ stance whatever would have no basis in fact. Thanks. I run it at 12* backed against the fsb, with a thumb over bore grip using the vfg as a hand stop. Kyle lamb/Travis Haley style, I guess you would say. What normally do you see dying on the x300's that led you to feel they aren't as durable? |

There is only a skinny little metal retaining pin holding back a plastic clip that swivels on a plastic half-hinge. It is about 50 times less robust than a Scout or Millennium. Take a Scout and mount it at 3 o'clock on a quad rail, then take a x300 and mount it a 9 o'clock on the same quad rail. Finally, find a sturdy doorway and swing the rifle back and forth in the doorway until one of the lights breaks and report back which one is non-functional. Pics coming in a few... Millenium (top), x300u (bottom) Millennium X300u X300u vs m600c Any questions as to where the weak point is on the x300u?....I didn't think so. |

[div] not to mention the bottom half of the x300 is plastic held on by six tiny screws. |
| I suppose I could damage my x300u, but I would never run one at 9*. Mine is at 12* and backed right up against the fsb. The mount is arguably weaker, in much the same way that glock frames are more fragile. I don't like tape switches, and agree that at 9 with one, yeah, it looks issue prone. Also, yes, the switch is less robust than a clicky, but it also offers advantages in function, and I find it pretty safe where it lives. YMMV, we all do it different. |

Do you know if/when the new heads will be released as upgrades for the older Scouts? |

Do you know if/when the new heads will be released as upgrades for the older Scouts? Probably won't be for a while. I'm sure SF wants people to buy the new lights before they offer the upgrades. We have not received any new part numbers for new heads, so I would guess it won't be until next year at least. But, that is only a guess. |

You guys have any idea how the new M600 Ultra series will perform such as spill vs. hotspot, etc. compared to the TX-4 Cree 600 lumen that you carry? |

After reading his last response to his thread http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_20/615632_The_FURYious_Scout.html, I see just 7 days ago, Pat wasn't certain if SF would produce a 500L Scout light.
Now that these are a reality, the 200L Scouts will flood the market even more than in recent memory. Price point appears to be $300~ It would save a lot of us some $ if SF just released a 500L head for those of us who have the current 200L versions. |
| I would really like to see beam shots or something of this light. I'm considering swapping out my current light, but for the price and slightly added weight it would need to out perform it by a good bit. Mine lights up targets out to 75 plus yards but still has enough spill to see the next targets. I'd like to see some more distance. |

Here's Pat doing work with various SF WL. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkoOMP8i4n0 I'd imagine the 600U would have a tighter beam pattern at 75 yards. |
